Setting Up Impact Indicators

Introduction

Impact indicators define your impact framework and categorise your YES/NO assessment statements and evidence capture.

Accessing Impact Indicators

  1. Click on the 'Admin Tools' button (this is only visible to users with admin privileges enabled).
  2. Select the ‘Framework’ tab, then the ‘Impact Indicators’ sub-tab.

Creating an Impact Indicator

  1. Click on the 'New Indicator' button.
  2. Fill in the blank form which appears as follows:
    • Theme - Input the broad impact theme your new impact indicator is connected to (i.e. economy, society, knowledge etc).
    • Indicator - Define the area of your impact theme you wish to gather data about (i.e. if your theme is society, you might wish to measure public engagement or environmental sustainability within that theme).
    • Descriptor - Describe what your indicator will be specifically measuring for (i.e. if your indicator is public engagement, you might wish to capture evidence of engagement with schools and the wider public).
    • Assessment Statements - Create YES/NO statements which will capture the data you are looking for (i.e. to measure public engagement, you might add a statement such as 'I engaged with members of the public outside of my organisation or field'). You can add multiple statements or none depending on how you wish to outline your framework within KOLOLA.
    • Required Evidence - Add an additional evidence capture stage to be presented to users if they select 'YES' to the linked YES/NO assessment statement.

NOTE: Evidence must be predefined in advance before it can be assigned to an impact indicator.
  3. Click 'Save' to apply your changes.
